I recently was overcharged by a merchant for an online transaction. I notified Wells Fargo that I had been overcharged. In their infinite wisdom, some overamped employee at Wells Fargo decided this constituted fraud and closed down my debit card. Now I have hundreds of merchants, who were all set up on automatic payment plans screaming for money and canceling my accounts with them. I have lost domain names, websites and my car insurance went up by $800. All Wells Fargo can do is say they are sorry. I won't even have my new debit card for four or five business days. So much for the vacation I was planning this weekend. And did Wells Fargo make so much as even a gesture to make good for their mistake? Of course not. They won't compensate me for lost revenue, they won't compensate me for the hundreds of hours it will take me to supply my new card number, if I ever get it, to my online merchant accounts, they won't put an employee on a plane and get my new card to me today, they won't even fedex me my new card. They won't even fire the idiot at the bank who created this mess. No wonder banks are going out of business.
