I See An America - Volume 1 Issue 4 -- The State of the News

I see an America that realizes violence on NEWScast has jaded us. While we decry the violence in movies and TV shows, it’s really the abdication of its responsibilities by journalism that has led to the majority of violence in America today. The “if it bleeds, it leads” mentality of broadcast journalism is pathetic bottom feeding, even if this pandering is justified by the ratings.

Follow up:

What is the relevance of a shooting, or gory car crash, to America, or to YOUR life? NONE! So why show it. Greed for the almighty advertising dollar has caused the news to sell out. Once the news sells out, society has lost its restraint on our leaders. Watergate could never happen now. Journalism was already spiraling downward at that time, and has since bottomed out, as big a prostitute that this world has ever seen. If journalism was true to its profession, it would have questioned Iraq II. It would have refused to be embedded with the troups, at their mercy for what they saw and heard….hardly objective journalism….leading to a whole new ballgame for spin doctoring called perception management….which is the art of selling a story as the truth and burying the truth as a fictitious story.

I see an America that is at a crucial junction in its future. The choices and actions we make today will have long lasting impact on our country's future.
