Let me get this straight. The new ATM machines are really cool. You dump in a stack of up to 30 checks and the machine scans the checks, confirms the amounts, and post the transactions in your account. In other words, you've eliminated the vast majority of labor involved in the transaction. (The labor was always negligible when you withdrew cash--whatever was required to fill up the machine with cash.) So what's up with the ATM fees? Why do I have to pay up to $3.00 to use an ATM to withdraw my money from my account. (On a $20 withdrawal, that's a 15% charge to withdraw your money.) Come on man, I can get cash back with my purchase at the grocery store for free!! Common sense says we're getting ripped off.
